Arrival at Termoli station and meeting with the local guide to begin the discovery journey of Molise. Traveling on board a comfortable coach, we will arrive in Campobasso, the regional capital. It will follow a guided tour of the historical center characterized by narrow streets, long stairways, churches and historic buildings that wind around the foot of the Monforte Castle, an ancient defensive stronghold. Among the alleys are hidden two stereotypes of the culture of the capital: the Samnite Museum, custodian of numerous archeological finds of the Samnite people and the Museum of Mysteries, an icon of the tradition of Corpus Domini well rooted in the territory. Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by coach to a company leader in the artisanal processing of Molise truffles. Meeting with the expert truffle hunter and, with the company of the dogs Bruna, Axel and Max, you will experience an amazing adventure, walking in the woods, searching for the delicious truffle…and becoming the protagonist of the day, accompanying the dog in meticulous research. A real truffle hunting lesson in which you will discover how to identify the tuber, its origins, secrets, curiosities, and much more!
At the end of the excursion, tasting of truffle products and wine from Molise. Lunch in a farmhouse, along the banks of Biferno river, in an ancient mill of the 18th century. In the afternoon a guided tour of the historical center of Sepino, listed among “the most beautiful villages in Italy”, and Altilia di Sepino, one of the most important archeological sites in Molise, a precious witness of the Roman past of the region. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by coach to the tourist port of Termoli, meeting with the guide and boarding to the Tremiti Islands, a small corner of paradise. Upon arrival, a guided tour of the island of San Nicola which, with its important monuments, is considered the historical center of the archipelago. It will follow a boat tour to admire the extraordinary beauty of the sea caves that wind along the coast and other islands that complete the archipelago. Lunch in a restaurant with a fish menu.
In the afternoon visit to the island of San Domino, the largest island of the archipelago, covered by a forest of Aleppo pines and holm oaks. Return to Termoli by ferry, dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit with a naturalistic guide in the Montedimezzo MAB Natural Reserve, a naturalistic heritage in the heart of the Molise Apennines. The tour will continue towards the village of Capracotta, located at 1.421 meters, surrounded by typical Appenine vegetation, with a rare example of white fir forest. Lunch in a restaurant with a typical menu. In the afternoon, it will follow a guided tour of the historical center, of the handcraft stores rich in food specialties, of the immense green carpet of Prato Gentile and of the wonderful Garden of the Apennine Flora. Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Upper Molise to visit the Samnite Theater in Pietrabbondante, one of the most important testimonies of this illustrious population, that has survived up to the present day. Lunch in a restaurant. The visit will continue to Agnone, “the city of bells” full of important churches, crafts and typical gastronomy. Guided tour of the historic center and of the oldest Pontifical Bell Foundry in the world. Stop in a cheese factory of Molise excellence, to discover the products of the dairy art. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Castel San Vincenzo, a beautiful village framed by the marvelous mountain scenery of the Molise Mainarde and the emerald green lake. Guided tour of the Benedictine Abbey and the enchanting archeological area with the valuable Crypt of Epifanio dating back to the ninth century. Lunch in a restaurant with tasting of the famous “ravioli” from Scapoli, a special kind of handmade pasta. In the afternoon we will arrive in Scapoli, the town of the bagpipe. It will follow a visit to the ancient village and to an historical handicraft store. With the company of a skilled master craftsman we will know the history, the melody and the construction techniques of the bagpipe, the true soul of Molise’s musical culture. Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Termoli, an enchanting fishing village surrounded by ancient walls. Strolling through the alleys overlooking the sea, you will retrace its history and admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Purificazione and the Swabian Castle. Packed lunch with a basket of typical products of Molise. Transfer by coach to Termoli station and departure for the return to the headquarters.
